Coastal Clean Up Day & Marine Debris Art Display

Join the Marin MPA Watch team (a program coordinated by Environmental Action Committee of West Marin, California Academy of Science and Point Reyes National Seashore) as we display our Marine Debris Art Projects, created totally from trash collected off Drakes Beach in June, July and August.

The art projects have been constructed by local community groups, MPA Watch volunteers and other community members. For more information on our marine debris art program, visit www.marinmpawatch.org/summer-programs.

The exhibit will take place on Drakes Beach during Coastal Cleanup Day. Come to see the art and clean the beach. Dress in layers and wear a hat. Bring snacks and plenty of water. If you have sturdy gardening gloves, please bring to pick up trash (we will supply gloves for volunteers). If you have a reusable bag (burlap sack) to pick up trash that helps to reduce the plastic going to the landfill (we will have plastic trash bags for volunteers who need them). Be prepared to log the trash collected on a worksheet or to stay after and count and sort your bag for the statewide tally. If bringing children, recommended ages 5 and above. Children should remain with a parent or guardian and should not pick up any hazardous materials.
